I'll step aside the ironic observation that this visitor herself has no self portraits on her profile. None.
I'll let it go for now... ya know... glass houses, etc. : )
I'm only mentioning this because it was apparent to me, as a casual visitor to VR, that self portraits aren't required.
Besides, I like the mystery of not knowing exactly who people are on VR; it's like a masquerade.
It's part of the fun.
And it IS fun, believe you me.
I will know everything I need to know about you by reading your words. Everything.
(yeah, so LOOK OUT!)
In a selfish way, I'm only here to read your words & hear your thoughts.
I gather what I will, then take my leave.
I'm sure self-portraits would do wonders for my ratings.
...and then again, perhaps not.

Perhaps I'll add more later, but for now, I'd still rather hide in the shadows.
So, yeah... WHAT'S WITH THE EYE?
Well, it's about the only physical feature that people seem to like about me.
And it really IS a picture of my eye, by the way.
Just so you know.
It's also my own little homage, a reverence if you will, to the Eye of Horus.
I have always been a fan of Egyptian mythology & the archetypal themes which permeate ancient religions.
I am particularly interested in the deities; Osiris, Isis, Seth, Horus and Thoth (thus, my screen name).
I used to be a big fan of Anubis, but his role was largely ceremonial.
A janitor of the gods, if you will. I know, I know, everyone seems to love the guy, but since I'm reluctant to join crowds and I loathe fads, I started liking Thoth.
but i digress...
Thoth, as we all remember, was originally known as a nocturnal moon god and is represented as an Ibis-headed figure, whose curved beak resembles a crescent moon.
Thoth's power was almost unlimited in the Underworld and rivaled that of Osiris. He acted as mediator between Good and Evil; darkness (Seth) and light (Horus).
The Egyptians credited him as the author of all works of science, religion, philosophy, and magic.
I bet his wallet had BAD MOTHERFUCKER written all over it.
I just find it fascinating.
And, if I had to pick an ancient cult -- assuming I had a choice in the matter -- I'd go to 2500 BC where I'd spend my nights partying with the nocturnal Thoth cults.
Chillin' with the scribes, poets, and dancers.
On a slightly-related topic; I really don't like my VR name. but I can't think of anything better so I've learned to embrace it.
But that is a topic for another day.
